Ate here this evening. I had fresh caught local cedar plank salmon and my husband had slow roasted lamb shank. Both were absolutely wonderful. The entrees included a delightful fresh salad, potatoes and nicely cooked vegetables. This place is a real treat. I highly recommend it.

I love this place. It is one of the few places on the coast where you can get a genuinely well prepared dinner. The prices are proportional to the quality of the food, and frankly, it keeps the riff raff out. The lobster tail is delicious, as is any of their steaks. It is worth the hour drive once in a while. Had the interior been more updated they would have received 5 stars.

Good things first: After my fork walked off with my plate, the waiter brought me a new fork without being asked, which basically never happens, so that was an unlooked-for plus. The food was good, generally speaking. Now for the criticism: Spinner's is basically the fancier, more expensive cousin of Black Bear Diner. I'm not sure that the difference in tab was justified, though. Again, the food was good... BUT it's too much, taste-wise. The rolls were kind of confusing. It was dark (dinner lighting) so all I remember is that the rolls were flecked with black (maybe sesame or something? I have no idea) and tasted different than what I'm used to. The "buffalo" burger (not that this continent has any buffalo that I'm aware of) tasted too much like the swiss cheese and not enough like the bison. As for the scallops+salmon+prawns kebab, the shrimp, scallops, and sauce tasted too strongly of their respective tastes so that I was drinking a lot of water in between bites.

Great road house food will not disappoint. Good cocktails, as well. Had a terrific prime rib one night, and scampi the next. Pomtini cocktail is a favorite. Spinners is dependable any time of year!

Dinner was amazing....Food, wine and the view... But the best part of the meal was the service. Joe was our server and he was on, fast, friendly and knowledgeable.

Ate here two nights in a row and loved it! Got the scallops then the crab cake and enjoyed the seasonal salads both nights. It's a bit expensive but well worth it. The portion sizes were spot on. I look forward to coming back.

Mediocre at best. Even though there was a lovely view of the sunset, the service was sluggish and the service was defiant and out of tune. We ended up getting a discount because they seemed overwhelmed with little service. There wasn't much flavor to the Pasta, and it was overpriced completely. The burger I had wasn't cooked that well at all. Ended up having to walk to the counter and complain and pay getting a small apology. Also for parking even if you had a small fiat you'd have trouble getting in because of how it's laid out. Would never come back here again.

I have eaten here in the past, and it was pretty good. Went there tonight and the food was really bad. I ordered the scampi, and it was so salty that I could barely eat it, and when I said something about it, there was no care at all. I also ordered the chowder, which was good, but it was also an extra 4 dollars. I was expecting a comp, on at least my chowder! And when the bill came, there was not even as apology. I will never eat there again.

Good food. Most folks will think the portions are small but i thought it was perfect. Good crab cakes and garlic mashed potatoes.

Did not get what I ordered. What I did get was tough, overcooked, and flavorless. Explanation: I ordered the scallop, salmon, shrimp dish. I opted for the clam chowder and a baked potato. I was told I could not have a baked potato because the dish was served on rice. The clam chowder was salty and the clams were chewy but tasted ok. The skewered and grilled scallops. salmon and shrimp came with fettuccine and a vegetable (which I will describe later). I said to the waitress I thought this was served with rice. She replied "Well, I guess not tonight!". The fettuccine was dry and undercooked, the scallops and shrimp were over cooked and too tough to cut with a fork! They had to be sawn with a knife and the salmon was so dry it crumbled! The vegetable: Five or six 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch by 1/8 inch squares of what I think were roasted peppers mixed with a tablespoon of grilled onions and a taste of sweet sauce. The whole 'vegetable' filled my teaspoon twice and it was gone. The service was mediocre and no one asked if the meal was good (because they knew better. Do not waste your time or money!

This place gave us the fartz. The bartender was old and slow. View was less then mediocre(unless uyou like trailer parks). But the people who live here will tell you this is THE place to go in town. Duck was surprisingly good. Appetizers are over priced and crap. Salad eh. Chowder sucks.... Drinks when we got them where ok and took forever(saved us from spending a ton of ! $$$) All in all, Gold Beach is not a place to come eat! Food is not any restaurants Forte here! That's why I give 3 stars! Otherwise go north!

What a happy surprise when we arrived back in Gold Beach and happened upon this gem.we had a wonderful dinner and great martinis! My husband had the Chesapeake style crab cakes and I had the shrimp scampi. Both were beautifully presented and tasted great! Don't miss this place!

We had a fabulous meal! The customer service was excellent too. They are kid friendly with hamburgers and chicken tenders that we're a hit. The adults all tried different fish that was very good too. Every time we go to Gold Beach we make it a point to dine at Spinners. You'll want to be sure to make reservations - it was Thursday night and packed.

They advertise that they are open till 10 but when I called on a Friday night the guy who answered the phone said that stop seating at 8:55. So we didn't get to try the restaurant - I thought that was a little odd- 8:55?

This is the second time I have been to Spinner's. The first time I was very happy with their service and food, which is why we returned. Tonight, however, was a TERRIBLE experience. We were seated in an area with no one else where it was very dark and subsequently forgotten for 20 minutes. We had to find someone to tell them we wanted a different table because it was too dark. They turned up the lights in our seating area and kept us there. Then, about 1 minute later, another server came down and asked if we minded if she turned down the lights because it was too bright. We then asked if we could please be moved to another table. She took our drink orders after seating us and left. After that ordeal, we were told that this Seafood and Steakhouse was out of Fish and Chips, burgers, and scallops. We then needed time to change our orders accordingly. He came back and we ordered our new choices. It took over 45 minutes. We're not sure HOW long it took, because we walked out. There were 4 tables, including us, there and we weren't even checked in with once in 45 minutes. We paid for the drinks we had, but when we told the waitress our problem, she tried to tell us that we were wrong, at which point we told her to just give us the card back and we left. We went to Ray's Food Place and made dinner back at our rental. It took us half the time to purchase groceries and make a meal.. Never. Again.

Great spot! Was impressed by the service and the food. The decor is pretty dated, but you don't eat decor!

This place has the best filet I have ever had in my life. I couldn't believe the excellent service and ambiance . The steak was cooked perfectly and tasted pheonominal!

4 stars for service (Brian was our waiter), 2-stars for our meal. We made reservations for 6pm on Saturday night in the off-season...immediately seated upon arrival. Service was attentive and food was served promptly. The corn chowder was fine, the bread was hot, dinner salad OK, deep-fried ling cod had no flavor, a bit mushy on the texture, and the batter seemed more 'high-school cafeteria' than 'upscale dining'. We will visit again and order something different...with a lower expectation for the entrees. We were told that one of the main chefs had recently left the restaurant to open his own establishment in another town.

Hubby had the duck, which he said was quite good. I had the crab cake, which was OK, but the crabmeat was kind of tough. (Not sure how that can be.) The garlic mashed potatoes were very salty and dry. The seasonal salad was excellent. The service was good enough. I thought it was all overpriced.

    (3)
  • Jamie C.

For the price this place is not worth it...the wine they served was definitely to my liking but 32 bucks for deep fried fish not worth it..my hubbys steak had to be sent back his filet the first time did not look like a filet at all the second time around it did but the quality just not there. It was really cold where we were seated due to a draft from somewhere we couldnt figure it out but the service was outstanding but I wont go out of my way again to eat here.

The first time we came here was just because it was next to our awesome hotel but quickly fell for the food! We both has burgers but I had the bleu cheese burger with a crater lake martini I believe and the fries.... FOODIES UNITE! at this spot! Everything was beyond perfect and the drink had me feeling oh so good, especially after that 6 hour drive. The boyfriend was just as happy with his plate which I cant tell you what is was because I was so consumed in my own food. The food was so good we had to order dessert and see if this place was the real deal. Had some sort of apple crumple crisp with ice cream and after that, a new food baby was created. We were so disappointed the next night that we got back to our hotel to late and the were closed by the time we got there :( The food was so good that we came back to San Francisco and couldn't stop thinking about Spinners. We actually took a trip back up there because we had to have them again and we were not disappointed. We have our favorite hotel right next door and our perfect restaurant when we go to Oregon now. The last time we went up there we actually almost missed their closing time again! We called and they were closing in 5 minutes but the lady was kind enough to fill our order and have it delivered! This place is our favorite spot and holds nothing but great memories and earned every one of the stars gave them

Very pricey. But the filet of salmon that I ordered was to DIE FOR! It was shaped like a filet mignon yet it was soft and juicy and buttery! Melt in your mouth! It was placed on top of a bed of spinach with tomato chunks that had garlic oil or something like that on it. TO DIE FOR! Among the choices of "sides" was garlic mashed potatoes (or rice or something else, can't remember). I got the garlic mashed potatoes, TO DIE FOR! The salad was ok, the herb rolls were ok. I came here because it was my birthday. I got a cheesecake to take home. Not sure if it was free or one of my dinner group got it for me, not sure. One of my dinner group ordered a side of pita bread with artichoke dip, that was wonderful! They are only open for dinner time. The parking lot is not set up for RV's. I came here in a rental car. I'm going to say NO to "good for kids" only because of the prices. Attire wise, I'd say more than casual but not necessarily dressy. Somewhere in between.

OMG!! 6 years ago my (then to be) husband took me here for dinner, afterwards he proposed.. Well I remember the dinner was good , but other things were going on and I wasn't very focused on food and service.. well we just went back for our 6th anniversary and it was the best dinner we have ever had!!! My honey had prime rib and said it was THE BEST prime rib he has ever eaten!! I had Lobster and it was melt in your mouth delicious!!! Everything was just great, even the vegies were cooked to perfection!! We were so pleased. Last year we were in Hawaii, and I must say the food was surpased anything we had there. The prices aren't any higher than any good seafood /steakhouse, and well worth it. IOur waitress was a doll, we compimented and thanked the owner and he told us they have had the same Chef for 13 years!! Kudos, Oh I brought a piece of Peanut Butter Choc. Pie home.....ummmmmm!!!!

  • Allie C.

My husband and I just had a wonderful dinner here! We both had the prime rib, so we didn't get a wide range of their huge selection, but the service was spectacular and the food was wonderful. We were too full for dessert but it all looked amazingggggg!!!!

Free rolls were delicious but we were only given one per person. Very stingy. Then the food was expensive. Chicken Caesar Salad was OK. Scallop Salmon Shrimp was not good at all. Asked for potato and were told that it comes with rice pilaf. No exchanges. Then it arrived with bland pasta, no potato nor rice pilaf. Bleh. Not at all good for the price. Would not recommend.

Meh. Dinner around 8pm on a Tuesday and still busy, we thought it would be fantastic! We sat in the bar, got our beers quickly and ordered. We did find it odd that a seafood and steakhouse, on the coast, didn't have crab legs. We had plenty of time to ponder considering it took almost an hour to get our food. Eventally we we're given two yummy dinner rolls. Forgiveable...it seemed busy. We got the chowder, it was luke warm and the chunks of potato were crunchy and undercooked. After fishing them all out, the chowder was decent. Finally our meals arrived. My steak was a little under done and a little lacking in flavor. The Baked Potato was good, although a little small. My husband was unimpressed with his tuna. For the money, one would expect quality food. Our waiter was friendly as was the rest of the staff. Sadly, we paid too much to leave unsatissfied. Not worth the time or money.

We had a great dinner here- easy walk from where we were staying, food was great and the service was friendly and professional. The plank Salmon was delicious. Recommend to anyone visiting Gold Beach.

I met the love of my life here. We shared steak. It was perfectly cooked. It really is one of the best places to eat in Gold Beach so don't let anyone fool you. They have a lovely way of mixing sweetness into salads. Staff is engaging. Drinks are delicious. Portions are perfect. Deserts are spectacular. Everything I've ever ordered there was delicious. It is a surprise to read bad reviews. They must be from out of town or something and they're not as invested in good local businesses as locals are. Spinners is no doubt a 5-star steakhouse. Go, drink and enjoy.

The food did not warrant the price. I had lamb - little flavor. Very garlicky mashed potatoes, though. Presentation very nice. Husband had Asian Chicken, It was spicy, the reason he ordered it. He would have liked a few more vegetables with the meal.

I was on the road for 8 hours, and was ready for a satisfying meal. Some of the places I would of preferred were already closed at 8 pm, so this was our last resort. The restaurant was only opened for another 30 min, and I felt bad about that, but the owner insisted that we come in, and it wasn't late at all. He was kind and really wanted our service. I do appreciate his efforts. Started off with the appetizer bread which was the best part of the meal in my honest opinion. I had been warned from the reviews, so I didn't plan on spending a big amount on something not worth the buck, so I opted for a chicken caesar salad. I was feeling like something healthy, especially for the evening. When it came out it was a sorry site to see for $13, and the portion. The chicken was also skimpy. There was nothing different from this salad and one at a Denny's or a salad bar. I hate giving such a poor review on a restaurant, especially if business is hurting in the slow season around these towns, but I don't want people thinking they're getting the bang for their buck. I think the only alternative to a non overpriced meal and quality was the bacon burger my friend got for $10.50 with a side of criss cut fries. Service was nice however, and the place is more upscale than an average restaurant, but unfortunately the food didn't compare. What keeps me from giving this place 3 stars as opposed to 2 is that 2 would mean I've experienced better, but in this town I have not, therefor it's ok for what's around I suppose? I don't know maybe I'd be better off getting a subway sandwich. I did have a good chat with one of the bussers there, and she gave us great suggestions for places to stay. Five stars for their kindness that's for sure.

Unexpected great dinner in Gold Beach. Steaks and seafood and good drinks. Very attentive waitstaff on a busy Saturday night. The wait for our food was almost 45 minutes but it seemed like this was the peak of their traffic. Pleasant all around and we will be back.

Not awful, but not really impressed. We came here at the recommendation of our hotel. The service was very fast, and very friendly. However, our waitress was not very knowledgeable about the menu. I asked what size the fillet Mignon was, she said she thought 8oz but wasn't sure. I asked what wine they carry she'd recommend with the steak, she said she thinks people order [insert "house red wine", she named all the usual suspects]. The bread was fantastic. The food itself, only ok. Not that the quality of my steak was bad - but I ordered medium rare, and my girlfriend ordered medium well. Both steaks were cooked the same. I feel the steak had a lot of potential had it been prepared as I asked. If Yelp allowed 3.5 stars, Spinners would get it. The food was decent, the service was friendly but not too encompassing. I'd recommend it to someone staying in the area, at any rate.

A very nice find for a dinner that is fancy without being pretentious. The wine list is nice and very fairly priced. My husband drank beer and would have enjoyed more local selections, but was happy nonetheless. The mushroom appetizer was very tasty. Honestly, I could have done without the puff pastry on it and just have had double the sautéed mushrooms --- love! My planked salmon was simply and very nicely cooked. Sides were all yummy. My husband, who is picky about how his steak is done, gave the best review he does -- a clean plate and no grumpy comments. A word of caution. Portions are HUGE. When we first sat down, we saw all sorts of folks leaving with doggie bags and wondered if it indicated poor quality fit for the dogs. Nope! It simply means you are likely to get a couple of meals out of the one you ordered (except my husband who ate everything!). Nice service, too. A good find!

Listen, we had discount coupons courtesy of the lodge we were staying at, so we went. I was told the wait would be 15 minutes. 1 hour and 10 minutes later, we were seated. I had a martini while waiting( not comped). The meal was fine, however, something is going on with the management of the place. The place just wasn't that busy for us to be waiting that long. There are other places to eat, go to Annas By The Sea instead.

Looking for a bar to sit at and have a decent dinner, we were pointed to Spinners. Perfect! We chose the duck & halibut dinners and were very pleased with the presentation and the taste of the meals. Lots of layers in the salad's and main course. Enjoyed the bartender and the local's around the bar. Service was excellent even with a tour bus of 60 that arrived during our visit. Would highly recommend if staying in Gold Beach. Beware, the view in the dining room overlooks a trailer park with the ocean in the distant background...

I'm thinking that the lack of choices in this town keeps this restaurant as the best rated. The menu was a weird mix of fancy and burger stand type food. The fancy stuff was over priced, but the crap food was reasonably priced. I went with the fancy stuff and was pretty disappointed and what I paid. My man went with regular food and I was jealous of it. Would I eat here again? Yeah. The atmosphere was really nice and we had a nice view of the water. The bread was good, I remember, and the service was decent. Someone let a crying baby in while we were there, and I found that annoying. Plus, they double ran my card or something because I had two pending charges for two different amounts. When they cleared, though, only one did.

I REALLY wanted to like Spinners. Gold Beach has so few choices for sit-down dining in the evening, and once you add cocktails you have even fewer choices. I love traveling on the coast, but bemoan the high prices the restaurants choose to charge for patronizing their establishments. I understand that fine dining has a price (especially when the ingredients are costly to transport to such remote locales), but in such a small coastal town it makes no sense. I can't imagine the working-class citizens of the town are able to afford the average entrée price of $20-30 per plate! We visited Gold Beach recently quite unexpectedly, so I didn't get a chance to thoroughly research the restaurants. I quickly read Urbanspoon and Yelp reviews and chose Spinners only because the "other" option in town looked creepy and empty. The hostess was cordial and seated us quickly, where the wait staff saw to our water and drinks. The interior is quaint, but more appropriate for the mid-80s. I'm not sure what is down the small staircase facing the ocean.....an indoor garden? It was too dark to see anything, and our only view was ourselves in the mirrored windows. The menu has lovely offerings, but the entrées truly were far overpriced. I ordered a cocktail and it made it to the table in record time (after the long drive, it was much needed!) but was disappointing. I should have specified non-well liquor, whatever they used was harsh and watery. The prices are akin to a mid-range restaurant in a large city. In most cases that would be fine, but Gold Beach is a very small town and the restaurant's ambiance and decor is not proportionate with the prices. I would have loved a good steak, but I chose a lighter option of Pasta Ricardo. My 14 year-old daughter couldn't find anything she wanted below $25 so she chose a cheeseburger while my 18 year-old daughter chose a Caesar salad as she wasn't very hungry. Our waiter was adorable; he looked like an Abercrombie model....but we flustered him very easily. We received three small bread rolls that were doughy and had the texture of English muffins. The flavor was nice, but they were so tough that I could hardly break mine. Our meal came before I took a sip of my second cocktail (also harsh and watery, I had hoped the first one was a fluke), and I wasn't asked if I wanted wine. My pasta Ricardo was....odd. The noodles were perfectly cooked, but that's where the praise ends for the dish. The chicken was nothing more than chopped up chunks of meat that were tossed in a pan until cooked....there was zero flavor. The spinach was not even slightly wilted and tasted like it hadn't been washed well (subsequent stomach upset the next day confirmed it likely had not been). There wasn't a sauce, rather some broth in the bottom of the bowl that was also flavorless. An equally bland shredded cheese was sprinkled around the plate, along with some halved grape tomatoes. The cheeseburger was cooked well but also lacked flavor. The Caesar salad had nice dressing, but my daughter said her chicken was very bland (although it appeared to have been grilled rather than pan-fried like the chicken in my pasta - odd). We were offered dessert but decided to give up at this point. I was not in the mood to continue paying exorbitant prices for disappointing fair. I tipped our waiter nicely (25%; it wasn't his fault after all), and we left. I'm hardly a professional foodie; however I find it disappointing to spend good money for food that is so lacking. Since this is a big fish in a very small pond, I doubt my review will have any impact on Spinners' clientele....but I dearly hope they read our input and take it as constructive criticism. Like I said, I really wanted to like this place....I just don't want to waste my time or money. We would like to visit the area again (we enjoyed our hotel and the town), but will opt for more creative dining choices. My advice? Give it a try if you're feeling adventurous - perhaps we caught them on a bad night. Be prepared for big-city prices though, and skip the pasta. Dine on the deck of your hotel if you're visiting, or picnic-style on the beach (weather permitting, of course).

I wanted to eat at the Cape Cafe but they were out of business and closed. Fortunately I never read the reviews on Spinners or I wouldn't have stopped. Surprised to see all the poor reviews, we liked the place. Yes it had some expensive prices but we had a nice and filling meal for not a lot of money. We ordered a bowl of clam chowder (6.95), an appetizer of fried calamari with a chippotle-lime aioli on a bed of butter lettuce (8.00), the pork brisket entree with marionberry BBQ sauce, lots of meat, very tender with a wonderful sauce, garlic mashed potatoes, a baby lima bean and corn hash that had bacon, red pepper, carrots and onions in it (excellent) and a cup of clam chowder (17.00). We had 4 small warm rosemary rolls with pats of butter and an excellent olive oil in a small caraffe was on the table. With 2 glasses of wine the bill was $39.95 and we had more than we needed to eat. Service was prompt, professional and friendly, we would definitely return.

Nice atmoshere. Friendly attentive staff. Chowder was good. Ordered the duck. Menu said 5 spice seared duck breast on a bed of greens with a berry glaze. I was served 5 spice raw fatty duck madallions on a bed of greens with a few sliced strawberries. Luckily the waitress was kind and took it off the bill. The duck was literally inedible!!!!! The carmel apple pie desert was not made in house but it was pretty tasty! Should have ordered steak or seafood.....those dishes looked averagely decent .

You just can't beat the beautiful scenery and sunsets you get at this place. Not only was my Peppercorn steak delicious, but the wine menu was diverse and plentiful as well. Although this place is a but overpriced, the well groomed and professional staff help to make up for that.

Visited August 3, 2015 Our first night at Gold Beach we decided a quiet dinner at Spinner's - short for Spinner's Seafood Steak & Chophouse and we were definitely, pleasantly pleased! We arrived to a full-house but only waited about 15 minutes for a table with a extraordinary view of the ocean and perfectly timed for some wonderful photos of an amazing sunset! Service was friendly and prompt even though there were numerous large groups present. Food was delicious, hot (again, very busy), and plentiful where we had leftovers for breakfast the next day. My wife had the Pasta Campagnola while I ordered the Whiskey Steak and our daughter had the child's fish and chips. Each of us enjoyed our meal very much and shared a bite around the table, each agreeing the others choice was just as delicious as ours! Basically if you are in the region, you should really try Spinner's!!! We will return!

From the moment we arrived in Gold Beach, we asked the locals where to eat in town. The unanimous response was, Spinners. It's difficult to ascertain what my favorite part of the restaurant was. I can start with the perfectly broiled halibut, the juicy and tender duck breast, the wonderfully balanced chowder and the smiling, genuinely nice staff, Mary especially...not to mention the view. What a gem!

We eat at Spinner's every time we visit Gold Beach. In the past, the service and food have been excellent--- 4 or 5 stars. This time... not so much. We were seated quickly. I ordered oysters on the half shell from the specials menu. Our server hesitated, "Ummmm, I don't think we have those... let me check." Sure enough, they were out, and apparently had been out for "weeks." It shouldn't take much effort to make sure that menu is current. I was disappointed because I've always had good oysters here. We got the cheese plate, which was good, but oddly didn't arrive with any crackers, bread, or other snackies--- just three blocks of cheese. We asked for some bread and were obliged. Entrees were steak skewers (Beautiful Wife) and seared duck breast (me). The duck was so-so. We waited a looooong time for our food to arrive, and I have a feeling my dish sat in the pass for a while. Duck should be seared, plated, and out to the table before the fat has a chance to cool and solidify. Mine was lukewarm. The steak was OUTSTANDING. Great flavor and perfectly cooked. Sides were good, and the portions were generous. I think we just caught them on an off-night. They were busy, but not crazy busy. Service was slow and the food was not what we had hoped. When we come back next time, I have a feeling I'll be able to add a star or two.

a friend had recommended spinners if we ever found ourselves in gold beach for dinner. i'm glad he did. the calamari was different, but oh so good. delicately seasoned and very tasty. my blue cheese/mushroom burger was awesome. hubby's prawn and chips were very good. he did have to ask for a new plate of fries, cause those on his plate were barely warm. ben was our server and he was very good.

Oh my, I remember this being a huge swanky place! I did not eat here because I could not afford to take out a small loan. Stopped in here for drinks only. Prices are insanely high here. I wonder if the quality of food matches that? I guess will have to try it out next time and maybe update my review. Was a good place to at least get beverages. I enjoyed stopping in here but this dinner was not in the budget this time.

I loved this restaurant although I felt the prices were probably a bit too high. I honestly thought the portions were pretty decent considering you get a soup or salad on the side, but the prices still don't exactly match the quality or quantity. With that being said, the food is still delicious. I got the cedar plank salmon with roasted garlic mashed potatoes and the clam chowder. It was all great, although they could probably give you a bigger piece of salmon for the price you pay! Overall, it's really not a bad place and it's definitely worth a try. They have a great view of the ocean!

Service was good, but a little fast. The food however is just so-so. The dishes sound delectable on the menu, in person, not so much. I ordered a pasta with chicken dish and the hubby had a 1/2 chicken asian flavoered dish. Both of us found our respective chicken to be dry- strange since mine was floating in a sauce with overcooked pasta. If this were your average diner, no problem, but this is a fairly expensive place. Caesar salad was nothing special and appetizer, ditto.

I popped in for an appetizer and a refreshing cocktail. Karen (in the lounge) made my drink to perfection and recommended an app that was just right. I'll be back for sure

Spinners is the locals' choice, but it was just OK. The portions were small and the prices were high for the quality of the entrees. The place is informal with nothing fancy. The wait staff did their best, but seemed spread thin.

Really bad! Went because of the good reviews but regretted it. Really poor service (and there was barely anyone there) Had to ask twice to get a drink. The drink I finally received was REALLY BAD and not even cold. Never offered more bread. Salad dressing was terrible and served in a small paper cup (tacky) Steak completely overcooked, dry and tasteless. Vegetables were mushy and overcooked. All this for close to $100 We won't be back. Don't waste your money.

This place was okay. My husband complained this his NY strip was charbroiled with no seasoning. None. No salt or pepper. It was also clearly a medium rare when he ordered medium. That wouldn't have been a big deal if it tasted fabulous. It didn't. The clam chowder was ok, clams a bit tough and chewy, but edible. My crab cake was okay, as well. A bit soggy, I should have asked for it to be crispier. Old decor. Cute resident cat has extra toes on it's front paws. Wine list needs some work. And use real ramikens for condiments, not paper. This is not a meal in a basket kind of joint. Probably wouldn't seek this place out again on our next trip to Gold Beach.

customer service - poor presentation - poor atmosphere - poor taste - poor I really wanted to just give this place zero stars but I hope maybe I just came on a bad day or when they didn't have it all together also I am from Las Vegas where customer service is primo and also a culinary capital of wonderfully prepared food so I don't want to be unfair. I am from Southern Oregon and man do I miss it. We went on a trip last Sept. and this was going to be our one "date night" so on our way home we saw Spinners and said, "that place seems nice!!" Well we got in there, got seated by the window which was nice but there where a lot of flys in our area (super gross)! Once again use to that (not many flies here in Vegas so I let that go best as I could even though I couldn't believe it). Next our waitress seemed really nervous like maybe new or something, if this was the case she needed to be shadowing another waitress because she did a terrible job. We ordered a bottle of wine and she could barely open the bottle and once she did she didn't let us sample it first also she poured two large glasses and set the bottle on the table, un-chilled. I just figured maybe she was brand new and had no idea what she was doing... First we got an appetizer of crab (I'll post a photo) this crab was a very very small portion and around 22.00 as I recall... they served it with a plastic cup for the butter (very tacky)....We where both disappointed by now.... but had already placed our entree orders. My boyfriend got halibut which was good and the presentation was nice (they used lemon grass ie- I'll post a photo) but the lemon grass just looked nice it was kind of a nuisance to remove as you can't eat it. And actually added no flavor to the fish. Very plain but at least cooked correctly. I ordered a steak med-rare I even said more on the rare side. They brought it out well done! Now this is where I really got bad because I wait and wait and waited for the waitress to come back- when she finally did I told her my steak was way over cooked, we really didn't have time to wait for another one I pointed out because we had a long ways to drive, but that i was very unhappy with my dish. I told her if she could please tell her manager. I was hoping for them to bring me something else already prepared or at the very least a bill comp. I am thinking she never told a manager because nobody came back to our table. I was finally not feeling to well by the end of it all and I literally went outside for air and waited for my boyfriend to get our check- he had to go and find her and it took over 15 min after we where finished to clear the check. if we weren't in such a rush i really would have made a bigger deal out of it. So much for our Oregon trip date night. I really wouldn't recommend this place.

Let's start with the conclusion: this is the best place I have eaten in Oregon outside of Portland. This doesn't mean it's the best place I've eaten, but let's keep things in perspective - you are on the Oregon coast. The service was only okay, the ambiance was historic but warm and cozy and the menu was heavy on seafood. I had the crab cakes, which were good, but the chowder I had first was even better. The food was a bit over-priced, but it was still above expectations for a coastal town restaurant.

After reading so many bad reviews we almost didn't go here but my husband and I don't follow the crowd so we gave it a shot. So glad we did. Yes its a bit pricey but we had a coupon from the RV Park that we are visiting so that helped. We were greated by a friendly hostest and seated right away, tho this was a thursday night. Very nice inside and all the staff were very pleasant and attentive. We both ordered the fish and chips, yet my husband had french fries and I got rice. The dinner rolls were hot and very unique in a good way. Oh man the fish couldn't be any fresher and crisp on the outside and yummy on the inside. Maybe the owner read all the negative reviews and adjusted how things were done but whatever was done between the bad reviews and when we went there its working cause we loved our food and so did the people next to us cause we heard them compliment on it as well. They had salads and I know she had the lamb shank cause it was huge and she was tiny. lol. I would give it 5 stars if only the prices were a bit lower but I would definatley go back.

We were in the mood for some beef, and this place has a number of choices. I ordered an end cut of prime rib and my wife ordered the whiskey steak. Prime rib was dry, and VERY salty. The whiskey steak was covered with so much strange tasting sauce, the beef flavor was not apparent. Perhaps the seafood is the better choice, but after spending over $80.00 (with tip), on two dinners and a cheap bottle of wine, I probably won't be back to find out.

Okay for dinner in a small town. Really big on the whole seafood and steak (duh) so it was a little daunting being a vegetarian. Their herb biscuits served before dinner were good. I ordered a baked potato and a side of veggies as there weren't many defined vegetarian options. The veggies and potato were tasty and filling but I'd love to have more options. My boyfriend had the spinach mushroom salad; it was large and the honey mustard dressing was great. Decent place to hit up in this small town with some vegetarian choices and good food staples.

The food here is delicious. I really cannot say anything bad about it. The service was also incredible, our waitress was fast and attentive. The only problem with this place is its prices. It IS on the higher end with almost the entire menu running over $12 a plate and most entrees above $20.

Was really excited to go due to the awesome reviews I saw... Bad idea... The only good thing there was a crab cocktail and their homemade rolls. My boyfriend and I wanted to have a nice dinner with some wine, we would have been happy with anything but an 07' Oregon Pinot Nior, all they sold were 07's. I had the Thai Curried Pumpkin soup which was sub par and he had the chowder which was a bit heavy on the cream next were the meals. My boyfriend got the Duck which was supposed to come with fresh strawberries and instead came with pineapple (altered the special without telling us, no good), the duck was slightly overcooked and way too fatty (as some duck can be). I had the Cedar Plank Salmon, it was dry, nearly unflavored but had a great presentation. Both my boyfriend and I ate a 1/4 of our food, didn't finish our soups and left there paying over $100 for mediocre food. When leaving we were still hungry and very disappointed. There are a few seats with an ocean view but what they don't tell you is that between this restaurant and the ocean there is a ran down trailer park to overlook.

See my review for Barnacle Bill for this same date. Found this place since they were closed. Had scallops with veg and wild rice. Partner had jumbo prawns. Flavors balanced well and the Pinot was a great pick. $86 for the two dinners included $32 bottle of wine. Read this as a 4.5 as 5 has the very special.

You know that awesome small-town steak and seafood place that pleasantly surprises you with how on-the-ball and awesome it is? This ain't it. My buddy and I arrived in Gold Beach Saturday night for some camping, and decided to head into town to get some grub. We were two hungry dudes dressed in t-shirts looking for a solid meal and a few beers to wash it down with. Our expectations weren't astronomical. We both ordered the Pasta Ricardo and were served overcooked pan-fried chicken with the consistency of cartilage on a bed of undercooked macaroni shells sprinkled with cheese out of a bag, diced tomatoes, and a few other herbs. I would have regretted paying $7 for this disappointment; however, for $17, it was aggressively unsatisfying. Eating it (or choking it down, rather; I felt compelled to simply to get the caloric value I paid for) was the biggest "fuck you" I've leveled at my taste buds in as long as I can remember. Sorry, guys. This place gets one star because the waitress was nice enough and was very knowledgeable about the herbs used in the dinner rolls, oddly enough.

Based on the reviews, we were expecting much more. Food was good, but not spectacular. If you are dining here, ask for the upstairs area for the view (there is an area blocked in with no view of the water). Looked like it was the best restaurant in town - also recommended by the hotel - but it was average at best.

This restaurant practically exudes that sort of stodgy old-person restaurant atmosphere. It's not cutting-edge, nor trying to be, it's just going to serve you up traditional food, hopefully well-prepared. As to how it does that... well, it's a mixed bag. Things started off well with tasty, fresh bread, and the menu was on the adventurous side of stodgy. My wife loved her crab cakes, and pronounced them among the best she'd ever had; my salmon was prepared interestingly with a delicious sauce... but it was overcooked and dry. Service was good, and the waitress was very prompt once it became clear that we were in a hurry. If you keep your expectations in check, this is a pleasant but unspectacular steak 'n' seafood place.

stopped at golds beach for the night on our way back home down the coast on our portland to sj trip. not thinking we'd be able to have a nice anniv dinner in a small town...we were surprised and happy to find this restaurant. my husband had the duck... and I had a pasta with scallops and shrimp. both were excellent! perfectly cooked and flavorful!

Wow! Can't believe anyone would give this place a bad review. The sign on the road doesn't do this place justice. The staff were fabulous. Lots of help, and very attentive. The herb bread and olive oil to start was great. I had a salad of mixed greens, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, goat cheese and a honey vinaigrette that was amazing. Tart and sweet, so good. Then I had a crab cocktail for an entree. Living on the coast, I know fresh crab. This was fresh. The cocktail sauce had so much horseradish in it that it made my nose burn. Just the way I like it. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends. It was a great anniversary dinner

You're kind of a captive audience in a lot of these beach communities that don't have large enough permanent populations to justify actual good restaurants. So you end up with places like Spinners, with these epic menus, where they try to be all things to all people (while also trying to be fancy, which is what they're most definitely not), and end up doing nothing really that well. But what to do? A guy has to eat. Our waiter recommended the cedar-plank salmon which, coincidentally, happened to be the most expensive item on the menu. Having a sixth sense about these things I declined the chance to blow $28. Instead I ordered the fish and chips because I've found that good, old-fashioned fried food is one of the hardest things to screw up. They didn't disappoint in this regard. It was just as good (or bad, depending on point of view) as you'd find in any pub in England. My friend ordered something called Tequila Chicken, a questionable decision that really has me wondering how well I know her. But whatever. She liked it alright. A grandmotherly type in a purple dress appears in the room once in a while to serve the drinks. I liked this touch. Gave it kind of a family business-type feel. If you do go, I recommend sticking with the most simple things possible.

Slow. Overpriced. Bad management. Had to wait over 45 minutes for our food. I ordered the crab cake...1 for over $20. After suffering through finding multiple pieces of shell in my crab cake I finally told the waiter. I informed him that I and another person in our party had shells in our crab cake. He replied, "a lot?" My response was, "enough that I'm telling you about it." After a bit of nudging he finally went to tell someone... Not sure who. He then came back to tell me "that's the way crab cakes are, we do our best to get the shells out." When I informed him that I've had many crab cakes and never had a shell, he said "well, I've never actually had a crab cake." I politely asked for the manager. Once the manager finally came I explained the situation. (Showed him the pile of shell.) He then proceeded to blame his supplier. He took no responsibility for my shell incrusted dinner. Never offered a replacement meal. Gave no discount. I'm giving it 2 stars because he did finally offer a dessert (thanks, but no thanks). After speaking to an older woman up front (perhaps the owner?) we did get a discount. It didn't cover both ruined meals, but it was better than nothing. She was also very polite.

In all fairness, we were greeted with a big disclaimer from our server. We were told from the beginning that things were coming out slow from the kitchen. So it wasn't the hour ticket time that really ruined the experience for us. I don't want to sit here and rant, but maybe a little rant could be beneficial for the manager of they read these things? Here are just some of the highlights: First, nowhere on the menu does it say you have only bottled beer. So when we saw the price point and then received bottles, we were disappointed. Second, I understand that sometimes nights just go bad. But it was really hard to enjoy our wait time together when the tables around us were all so dissatisfied. There was no manager around. No one was even attempting to salvage anything. Next, when our food finally arrived, it was wrong. There weren't a lot of options available on the menu (most of the menu was 86ed) so we ordered what we thought would be a safe bet. The medium rare buffalo burger was clearly cooked well. When our server checked in, we told her it was wrong but didn't want to wait another hour so we would eat it. Our server informed us she would let the kitchen know 'they were ass holes' messing up the order. We weren't looking for a free meal, but we spent $60 on 2 bottled beers and food that was wrong and no one seemed bothered that we weren't happy. Next time we will do the dive bar across the street. I'll take microwave food over that experience again.

The service was great, but that's about it. This place is just another mediocre seafood & steakhouse that seats way too many people and spends way too little time on their food. I spent $27 for local salmon which was extremely dry and overcooked. A huge let down after being told to go here to get a taste of the salmon in season. Will never return and would not recommend.

Looking for a place to eat while staying in town, our hotel recommended this place, and gave us a voucher for 15% off. When we arrived it was busy but we were seated right away. The waitress came over as soon as we sat asking for our drink order and kept trying to rush us for it, and then our food order because she wanted to get us in before a party of 14. However, in seriously less than a minute of sitting I think it was a little too rushed. I ordered a whiskey pepper steak and my husband for the fishermen's platter. Both were good, not great, and definitely not worth the $27 & $31. Husband asked how their bloody Mary's were, the waitress informed us the bartender has been there 40 years and has nailed it. It was basically tomato juice and pepper. Long story short, this place is awfully proud of their ok food. Not worth the money even with 15% off. But not the worst place either.

Terribly disappointed. Spinners was recommended by locals as one of the best restaurants in Gold Beach. Ordered local salmon. They ruined it. It was dry and overcooked. What a shame. Given the time of year our salmon should have been fabulous. There is just no excuse for over cooking it to that point as it's not that difficult to prepare.

Slow, expensive, bad food, slow. The hotel staff from next door assured us this was the best seafood in town. I'm confident that frozen fish sticks from the market would be better. Our visit was Tuesday July 28. We ordered crab cakes as an appetizer, which were disgustingly heavy on the mayo. Main courses were two different salmon dishes. After waiting over 90 minutes from placing the order, we told staff we were disappointed and leaving. They insisted our meals were ready now and would prepare them for takeout. We waited another 15 to 20 minutes before receiving our dinners (now, it's about 10:30 pm). The only apology we got was from the wait staff who had about twice as many tables as she should have for proper service, and from a young busboy. Both meals were terribly overcooked. Dry tough salmon. Avoid this place. This was the worst dining experience I've had in over five years.

Came here about 10 years ago after being told it is one of the best restaurants in Gold Beach. I remembered it being great and it still is. Plenty of seating and a great view of the Pacific ocean. Staff is extremely friendly and are on top of you in seconds if you need a refill or anything. Restaurant is very clean and really have no complaints. I got the shrimp scampi plate for dinner and wow these are huge shrimp....err prawns as they call them. It also came with the option of rice or potatoes and salad or soup. I got the garlic mashed potatoes and chowder soup which were very good. For dessert I got the ice cream sandwich which was homemade and amazing. Definitely worth getting dinner here.

What a gem!

We stopped here for dinner on our way up the coast from California. Talk about a waste of time and money. We would've been better off just going through a drive thru somewhere, seriously. The way the dishes are described on the menu sound great but are nowhere near what you actually get and for the prices they charge it's even more disappointing. I ordered a buffalo burger cooked medium, what I got was a flavorless burger barely cooked on the inside and I mean it was dang near raw. I prefer my beef cooked rare to medium rare but this was too rare even for me. Our waitress (who by the way, seemed kind of in her own world the whole time) said they would make me a new burger. We were trying to get back on the road so I told the waitress to just make it to go so she did. I didn't discover til the next day that all they did was throw the patty that I had already taken a bite out of and slapped it back on the grill then put it on a new bun. Interesting. My advice is, don't stop here! And for you locals or friends of the owner who are giving this place good ratings need to stop it cause they are in desperate need of change and you falsely bumping them up isn't doing them any favors.

Looking for dinner in a Monday night late in the summer and Spinners was open and we caught the sunset from the amazing dinning room. The staff was friendly and informative. My boyfriend ordered the cedar plank salmon and said it was amazing and the best salmon he has ever had! It was huge and succulent and, of course, had to sneak a bite. It was amazing! I was crazing deep fried oysters and seafood and ordered the Fisherman's platter. So not disappointed!!!! Best fried oysters and the shrimp, scallops and white fish were so fresh tasting and amazing! The wine selection was unbelievably affordable!! A must try! Go for the sunset! So perfect!!!!

When checking into our hotel, they offered us a 15% off coupon for Spinners. This should have been our first red flag. However on Trip Advisor it was rated #5 of 16 restaurants. We thought how bad could it be? Really really really bad!! Over priced food, awkward atmosphere... We had bison burgers which were a huge disappointment. If I'm paying $18 for a burger I expect top notch quality, we would have been better off having going to McDonalds. I haven't been to McDonalds in years but would break the streak to save my self from this place! Anyways save your money and go somewhere else, this place was a joke.

We enjoyed our meals, I ordered the shrimp scampi my husband had the prime rib both were very good and we both enjoyed the local salads and seasonal veggies. There was a very annoying fly buzzing about, and it was more expensive than I had anticipated yet we had a nice meal in a timely manner w/a 3 year old - so it was worth it.

Spinners is excellent. There's no other way to put it. It's just great. I wish I could give this place 6 stars. We came here passing through Gold Beach on our way home for some salmon fishing on the Rogue and were pleased with every aspect of this eatery. All of our food was simply amazing. I had a filet of salmon with a side of mashed potatoes and vegetables. Everything on that plate was deliciously seasoned, cooked to perfection, and enjoyed by me. Their salmon is straight out of the Rogue River--probably the freshest fish you can find in the whole country. I tried a bite of all other food at my table and it all was beautifully executed as well. Compliments to the chef! Not only was the food scrumptious, the drinks were as well. I had one of the best Arnold Palmers in my life; it was perfectly mixed and refreshing! To top it all off, the service was awesome. The hostesses were friendly, welcoming and hospitable. We were waited on by the owner, who is a very nice man, and all of the townsfolk know him as a great person running a great business. And that's what Spinners is--a great restaurant with great service, great people, great food, and a great ambiance. Words can only explain so much; you have to try this place for yourself. tl;dr: COME HERE!!! Individual Ratings: Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Overall Rating: 5/5 (This is coming from a tough grader. Congrats Spinners!)

Based on some of the reviews we were hesitant. But, the restaurant was very pleasant. The food was high-quality and good the service was excellent.

Dinner was amazingly disappointing here. The prices here are pretty pricey, so one expects higher quality. My wife had the fish and chips. iOS not know if the fish is made in house, but it was oily and overlooked, and the batter lacked any flavor at all. I swear her fries were from a bag. I had shrimp scampi. The shrimp was decent, but the sauce could use some oomph. The vegetables looked and tasted like frozen vegetables. We both had a martini. They were awful. Well, my wife said hers was lackluster. I had a pepper martini. I guess. It tasted like plain vodka with some olives in it. The waitress asked how it was. I said it was, "okay." "Just okay?" "Yeah, it's not great." "Oh, sorry to hear that." ... I'm not one to ever send anything back, but the drink was awful. So I suffered through it. Drink service was slow. Good was okay. Staff was nice. Kids had Mac n cheese. It was Kraft. Perfect for kids. No complaints from them. Seriously. Very disappointed for the cost of the food. We won't go back. Unfortunately. I don't like leaving negative reviews; but it's worth sharing.

Sat at the bar on a weekend. Place was packed but service was great. We had the mushroom app, split a salad and a soup and had peanut butter pie for dessert! Fair prices and yummy food

We absolutely loved it here. And we are not locals or friends off the owner. I'm reading reviews about bad food and I just don't get it. This is a steakhouse, and that's what we ordered. Very close to, if not the best, steak we have ever had. Vegetables were fresh and well prepared - I even commented on this to the staff. Soup and salad were also great. Service was very good as well.

WOW, YUM AND Please sir, may I have some more??!! Great food, staff is a fun bunch. Set up a reserved table in the bar with a clear shot of the TV for a Warriors game, super accommodating (if they can). Very delicious food, would go again if in the area. Great way to enjoy our 24th anniversary and mini vacation.

Best supper in Gold Beach while overlooking the Pacific Ocean. We spent the afternoon/night in Gold Beach driving from Portland to San Francisco. I would recommend trying Skinners.

We have ate here 2 separate years. It can be hit or miss. I have had 2 meals that were top notch. One that was disappointing. A bit pricy but it is linens and full tableware set. The waiters are skilled in the trade.

My husband and I have had amazing food and service every time we have visited Spinner's, but the reason I am writing is because I work for an assisted living community in Bandon and one of the couples that live there told me they were going to Gold Beach for the wife's birthday. I told them if they would like a wonderful dinner, consider Spinner's... My residents found me first thing this morning to tell me what an amazing dinner and service they received and how the owner really made sure they got seated earlier that expected. Thank you for treating these wonderful people so well, they have been married 70 years and have been all over, but this is now one of their "special" places to go to spoil themselves.

Exceptional food and service! Spinners was recommended by the front desk staff of Jots Resort, where we were staying at. The food is first rate, equal to what you would expect at a fine dining establishment in Portland. The service is just as good. We were seated with an Ocean view. The appetizers and main courses were served at the right time, no getting your main course while still eating your appetizer. Portland places could learn from that! The pricing is good, appetizers, cocktails, main courses, and desert for 2, right at $100. The service was so good, $30 tip. Dewey, the owner, had one of his employee's come pick us up at our Motel, Jots Resort, which is a nice place to stay too! Enjoy this place, it's old school service, and it's reflected by everyone's great attitude! We will be back!

Not sure how or why Spinner's has such good ratings. We were seated right away, but it took our server about 15 minutes to acknowledge us, another 10-15 for our drinks to arrive - had to send one back. Dinner timing was paced well - but - the mushroom app was AWFUL, salad was ok, my steak was terrible, overpriced and not cooked properly. They were busy, but not crazy busy. It was truly one of my all time worst dining experiences ever. It was so bad, I just laughed. I refused to get upset about it. The atmosphere is dated and NOT charmingly dated. Next time we'll try Anna's or Barnacle.

Had dinner there last night it was excellent and their cocktails were very good also we shared the fish platter and whiskey steak .we will be back next time thru I can't imagine what anyone would complain about unless you just don't know good food

I am not a local or a friend of anyone at Spinners but my husband and I have eaten here a number of times while visiting Gold Beach over the last few years. We have enjoyed the hot dinner rolls, the interesting wine list and the pleasant service. We both think an overall 3 plus star rating does not capture our experience. Some of the menu items are very expensive, so maybe that's part of it. But in a small laid back town this is a fine dinner option.

  • Gerrie L.

    (3)
  • Rob Z.

Ate here this evening. I had fresh caught local cedar plank salmon and my husband had slow roasted lamb shank. Both were absolutely wonderful. The entrees included a delightful fresh salad, potatoes and nicely cooked vegetables. This place is a real treat. I highly recommend it.

  • Barry E.

  • Robert C.

  • Debbie B.

Never. Again.

Yup the best Lobster I have tasted yet! The service was great and the place is exactly what I knew I was getting into. Seemed like it catered to the nearly dead or newly wed, though was a great choice to wine and dine. Only thing I wish we could find in Gold beach was dinner with a view but we had a view at our hotel down the road. All in all, great place to eat. alittle steap but great if your celebrating something special or if you don't mind spending a $100 for two. Oh yeah and if your staying at a local hotel, ask for a 15% voucher. Not much but helps!

This place was suggested by our hotel so we decided to give it a shot. If you're ordering for take out much of this review will not apply. The food was okay. Mostly coastal/steak/pasta selections. The pasta portions are ample. The steak and seafood entrees are sparse. They also forgot our rice, veggies, potatoe. This makes the value received feel very very poor, even after they brought the forgotten sides. If you're looking for something different in the area give it a try. It's pricy and I feel like the entrees are hit and miss, but it's worth a shot. Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Bartending: 2/5 Noise level: Super high! Value: 2/5 Overall: 2/5 Out party of three arrived, with reservations, and were seated immediately. Our table was awkwardly placed in what felt like a hallway and the area was incredibly loud. We had to ask to be moved to another are to avoid shouting conversation across the table. Service was slow to bring drinks, bread, and take orders. Ordered basic cocktails from the bar. Awful! Drinks were weak and I'll prepared. Wine was poured with no basic formalities. Service picked up after we received our meal. Ordered appetizer; seafood trio was unavailable and the waitress suggested prawn scampi. Four prawns with no embellishments for 16$. Money isn't a huge concern for us but it was still incredibly disappointing. 1/5 Crab cake entree was served plainly with rice. Crab cake was most, thin, and small. Tasted mostly like crab with tartar sauce that had been fried. Expensive for a single crab cake. 2/5 Pasta Ricardo entree was served lukewarm. Portion was adequate. Lots of chicken and spinach, overly covered with cheese. Sauce had little flavor. Chicken was super dry, value was decent. 2.5/5 Seafood maricella entree was probably the best dish of the night. Huge prawns and scallops. Scallops were gritty and oysters were unavailable. The cheese sauce was somewhat overpowering. Nothing special, nothing great. Value, relative to non-seafood, was adequate. 3/5 The waitress that handled us after we were reseated was very sweet and attentive. Albeit, at that point we were one of tye only tables left. I wish I could remember her name, I believe it started with a C. She's the only reason we would return. 5/5 service, 4/5 if considering kitchen speed 3/5 if you factor in original seating & hostess issues.

What a wonderful restaurant! We ate dinner here because of the recommendation of the man at the front desk of the hotel we stayed at - Gold Beach Resort (a great hotel) - who gave us a coupon for 15% discount. The restaurant was very nice overlooking the ocean. Friendly efficient service and delicious meals. Reasonable price as well. The people at the tables around us were all raving about how good their meals were.

A refreshing change from the usual Fish and Chips offerings in this town, but food just middle of the road quality. There was a variety of dinner salads to choose from. Entrees were overpriced but inconsistent. My salmon was prepared well but the pepper steak was overcooked and over seasoned. Still might be worth a try if you're in the area.

My wife and I had a cocktail each and the clam chowder. I can't rate on anything else for we did not finish our meal here. However the clam chowder was strong with clam flavor and the drinks were delicious. We got there early so the waiters gave us lots of attention. This is a great place to have apps and drinks.

We enjoyed our experience. Food was fine, service great and we even got a discount from the hotel we were staying at.

In a nutshell, pretentious, frozen, microwaved crap at top prices. Wild rice and duck without wild rice. Neither the wait staff nor the kitchen had a clue as to what wild rice actually is. The waiter insisted the crab was fresh although crab season had been closed for weeks. Freshly thawed perhaps. The good news is the food was edible. I would give two stars but go to one when considering the prices and pomposity level.

For some reason this restaurant seems to be very in with other businesses in town (i.e. both the inn I stayed at as well as the jet boat company provided 15% coupons for Spinners). For all the hype, it was sadly a disappointing experience. The waiters tried to take our drink order as they were seating us, and came back to for the food order before we had even opened the menu (within about 1 minute of sitting down) - it really felt like they were trying to cycle customers through the restaurant as quickly as possible. The atmosphere is so, so, but a pervading fishy smell throughout which is always a sign of bad fish to me. The food was not good - my wife got the crab cakes, and for $30 for two crab cakes, I'm expecting some pretty good crab cakes. Instead they were burnt on the outside and soggy from oil. I got the plank salmon which was cold on the inside. I feel like the restaurant is trying to be an upscale restaurant, but the chef just does not have the level of experience needed.

This place. Ugh. The person who brought our wine did not pour it to taste, just filled up our glasses. That's just the beginning. I don't mind spending $27 for an entree, if it's good. I had a mediocre salmon dish that came with a salad. Let me go off on the salad for a second. First, store bought croutons and dressing?! Really?! Your kitchen can't make dressing? Yikes. And as the kicker, the dressing comes on the side in a tacky little paper cup, like you're at a fast food place or something. I know this is a small town, and options for dining are limited, the sad thing is that this place could be so much better with just proper waitstaff training, and minimal effort in the kitchen. I don't think that's too much to ask, for $27 a plate.
